The SPACIOUS platform was recently presented at the Red de Explotación de Gaia (REG) meeting in Sevilla, a half-day session focused on tools for exploiting Gaia Data Releases 3 and 4, with special emphasis on preparing for DR4. The meeting coincided with WEAVE and GaiaNIR sessions and gathered experts working on large astronomical datasets.
The talk, “SPACIOUS: A practical guide (overview, usage and proposals),” showed how the platform makes large space-mission datasets scalable, interactive, and reproducible. Attendees explored practical “astronomer-first” use cases and learned how to turn a science case into a SPACIOUS-ready proposal.
This session reinforced SPACIOUS’s role as a key tool for Gaia DR4 analyses, providing researchers with straightforward, efficient workflows for accessing, analysing, and visualising data, while promoting reproducibility and best practices in large-scale space data exploitation.
