The SPACIOUS Platform Kick-Off Meeting, held from 20–22 November 2024 at the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC), brought together the consortium to advance the platform for the scientific exploitation of Gaia and Euclid data. Highlights included the presentation of modernised data processing workflows using Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies, BSC’s progress on cloud solutions integrating OpenStack and Rancher, and demonstrations of analytical workflows using Jupyter Notebooks. Key scientific challenges, such as the Milky Way’s star formation history and Euclid’s power spectrum analysis, were discussed in collaboration with researchers, promoting productive exchanges between science and development teams. Advanced computational tools like GANDALF and GUASOM for astrophysical data analysis, along with Big Data visualisation methodologies, demonstrated the platform’s capabilities. The meeting concluded with a presentation by Telefónica on Google Cloud integration and a six-month roadmap for project milestones.
